Eze Urges Youths to Acquire Skills Instead of Disparaging Leaders

A former National Publicity Secretary of the New People’s Democratic Party, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has advised youths in the Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State to acquire relevant skills to improve their lives. Eze’s statement comes in response to comments made by some youths campaigning for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area, who claimed that former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia would be “retired” from politics after the 2027 general elections.

The youths had been actively campaigning for the APC ahead of the planned local government election, scheduled for August 30. However, Eze has described the local government election as “unlawful” and an “embarrassment” to the established rules guiding elections in Nigeria. He has urged Rivers people to distance themselves from the poll, citing the multitude of blunders and non-compliance with extant rules.

Eze expressed concern that the youths were focusing on disparaging political leaders from the state instead of seeking ways to better their lives. He stressed that the former governors have made significant contributions to the state and their legacies should be respected. The APC chieftain also cautioned the youths against making reckless statements that could damage the reputations of respected personalities like Omehia and Amaechi.

The planned local council election has been challenged in court, with several suits filed against the “odious illegality.” Eze has assured that the election will be set aside in due time, given the numerous irregularities and non-compliance with established rules. The situation highlights the ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s electoral process and the need for adherence to established rules and regulations.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the courts will rule on the legitimacy of the planned local government election. The outcome is likely to have significant implications for the political landscape in Rivers State and beyond. For now, Eze’s advice to the youths remains a pertinent reminder of the importance of focusing on personal development and respectful engagement in the political process.
