Nigeria 2027 Presidency Nigerians Should Not Expect Messiah

Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has cautioned Nigerians against anticipating a messiah figure to rescue the country in 2027. Farotimi’s statement came in response to a query on social media about whether former Anambra State governor Peter Obi could be considered the messiah Nigeria is expecting.

The conversation started when a user asked if Obi, who ran in the 2023 presidential election and came in third, is the messiah Nigerians are waiting for. Farotimi replied, stating that he does not expect a messiah to save Nigeria and its citizens. He emphasized that individuals anticipating a messiah should reevaluate their perspective, pointing out that the power to effect change lies within each person.

According to Farotimi, the solution to Nigeria’s problems does not rely on a single individual or external force, but rather on collective action. He stressed that Nigerians must take responsibility for their own salvation, as no one else is coming to save them.

This development comes as Peter Obi has announced his intention to run again in the 2027 presidential election. There are reports that Obi is in discussions with the Peoples Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress regarding a potential return to politics.

Obi’s decision to throw his hat into the ring again has sparked interest and speculation about his potential candidacy and the role he might play in Nigeria’s future. As the country looks to the 2027 election, Farotimi’s comments serve as a reminder that the path to progress and change requires the active participation and engagement of all Nigerians, rather than reliance on a single leader or figure.

The 2027 presidential election is expected to be a pivotal moment for Nigeria, with various candidates and parties vying for power. As the electoral landscape continues to evolve, Nigerians will be watching closely to see how events unfold and what the future holds for the country.
