The exercise, which commenced at the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters on Moscow Road, featured a convoy of patrol vehicles from various security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Road Safety Corps.

The security convoy traversed major streets in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas, demonstrating the operational preparedness of the security agencies to maintain peace and order before, during, and after the elections. According to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure a free, fair, and credible electoral process. The deployment of personnel and resources is aimed at guaranteeing residents’ confidence in the process.

In related news, the state police command has announced a restriction on movement across Rivers State on election day. The restriction, which applies to both human and vehicular movement, will be in effect from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30. This measure is intended to prevent any potential disruptions to the electoral process and ensure a smooth conduct of the elections.

The show of force and restriction on movement are part of the measures being taken by the security agencies to ensure a secure and peaceful environment for the local government elections. With the elections slated for Saturday, the security operatives are working to reassure residents of their safety and prevent any potential security breaches.
