Osun APC Rejects Election Rigging Allegations

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it is planning to manipulate the 2026 governorship election through the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the CVR exercise on August 18, 2025, with online registration, followed by physical registration at all INEC offices statewide on August 25, 2025.

The APC described the ADC’s claims as “false and frivolous” in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi. According to the APC, the allegations are baseless and stem from the ADC’s fear of defeat in the upcoming election. The party labeled the ADC as an “internally displaced party” seeking excuses for another poor electoral performance.

The APC urged the public to disregard the allegations, stating that they are fabrications. The party maintained that it does not need to rig the election to win, citing defections from other political parties that have allegedly strengthened its ranks. The APC also emphasized that mobilizing voters for registration is not unlawful and encouraged its supporters to register and obtain their voters’ cards.

The APC’s response comes amid the ongoing CVR exercise, which is a crucial step in the electoral process. The party’s dismissal of the ADC’s allegations highlights the tensions between the two parties ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The APC’s stance is that it is focused on participating in the electoral process legally and will not be deterred by the ADC’s accusations.

The CVR exercise is expected to continue, with INEC working to ensure that all eligible voters are registered. The outcome of the election will depend on various factors, including the participation of voters and the conduct of the electoral process. As the election approaches, the APC and other parties are expected to intensify their campaigns, with the APC confident that it will emerge victorious.
