GWR: Hilda Baci to cook 250 bags of rice to set record for world’s biggest jollof pot [VIDEO]

Hilda Baci, a former Guinness World Record holder for marathon cooking, is preparing to attempt a new record for the largest jollof pot. She announced the plan in a video posted on her Instagram page, explaining that she has made the “executive decision” to use 250 bags of basmati rice for the attempt. The cooking will take place on September 12, 2025, in a massive 22,619‑liter pot that measures 6 metres wide, 6 metres long, 1.1 metres tall and 1.3 metres deep. Baci is confident the pot will not sink as it cooks the enormous quantity of rice.

The event aims to feed approximately 10,000 people and is expected to draw a large crowd, highlighting the significance of the record attempt. It comes two years after Baci set the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, cooking for 93 hours and 11 minutes. As a former record holder, she is no stranger to high‑profile cooking events, and this new challenge will push her endurance and culinary skills to new limits.

Baci’s team will face considerable logistical challenges, including sourcing the massive amount of ingredients and ensuring the pot is used safely and effectively. Meticulous planning and execution will be essential for success. If the attempt succeeds, it will represent a major achievement for Baci and her team, inspiring food enthusiasts and fans of competitive cooking alike.
