APC Support Groups Accuse Officer of Anti-Party Activities

A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups in Jigawa State has accused the party’s National Financial Secretary, Alhaji Bashir Usman Gumel, of engaging in anti-party activities. The accusation comes after Mr. Gumel allegedly attended an unauthorized political gathering in Kafin-Hausa Town on August 31, 2025, where he reportedly made inflammatory remarks against the state governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, and other party leaders.

According to the coalition, led by its chairman, Engr. Saidu Ibrahim Uba, the meeting was organized by disgruntled individuals, including opposition elements, under the guise of celebrating an award for one Zakari Kafin-Hausa. The coalition stated that Mr. Gumel’s actions at the gathering, including openly pledging allegiance to an individual rather than the APC, provoked unrest, leading to injuries and destruction of property.

The coalition condemned Mr. Gumel’s behavior, citing breaches of the APC constitution, specifically Article 21 A (vi), (vii), and (x), which prohibit acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute, disobedience to lawful directives, and promotion of factionalism. The group drew attention to the fact that while the controversial gathering was taking place, Governor Namadi and the entire APC state leadership were engaged in a grassroots outreach program in Kaugama Local Government Area, aimed at strengthening citizen participation and development initiatives.

The coalition has called on the APC National Leadership to investigate the matter and take disciplinary action in accordance with the party’s constitution. They urged the party to reinforce internal discipline and loyalty, and reaffirm the supremacy of party structures and leadership, especially at the state level. The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC leadership and Governor Umar Namadi, noting his developmental strides and inclusive governance continue to uplift Jigawa State.

Efforts to reach Mr. Gumel for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or texts. The accusation highlights the need for the APC to address internal conflicts and reinforce party discipline, particularly in the run-up to future elections. The APC National Leadership’s response to the allegations will be closely watched, as the party seeks to maintain unity and stability in Jigawa State.
