The 2025 US Open has reached the semifinal stage of the women’s singles competition, leaving four contenders: Amanda Anisimova, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula and Naomi Osaka. Anisimova, who avenged her Wimbledon final loss by defeating Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals, is making her first US Open semifinal appearance. Sabalenka, a consistent performer this year, has reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam events and is aiming to defend her title.

The first semifinal pits Jessica Pegula against Aryna Sabalenka. Pegula has enjoyed a solid season, capturing titles in Austin, Charleston and Bad Homburg and reaching five tour finals. Sabalenka, currently ranked among the top three players, has added titles in Miami, Madrid and Brisbane to her résumé. After losing to Sabalenka last year, Pegula will be eager for revenge, and her strong play in New York gives her a good chance of prevailing despite Sabalenka’s consistency.

The second semifinal features Naomi Osaka against Amanda Anisimova. Osaka is returning to top form after maternity leave and has earned her spot in the semifinals, while Anisimova has been a standout this season, winning the WTA 1000 event in Qatar and reaching the Wimbledon final. Both are playing at a high level in New York, but Osaka’s experience on the main tour and her record in the tournament give her the edge to advance to the final.

These semifinals promise excitement as all four players vie for the title and a place in US Open history. The winners will move on to the final to compete for the championship.
