The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, affirmed his commitment to delivering development projects in the capital city and its satellite towns. Speaking at the flag‑off ceremony for the reconstruction and dualisation of Karu Road—from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction—and other roads in the Karu township, Wike said he has been urged by Abuja Municipal Area Council Chairman Christopher Maikalangu and former FCT Senator Philip Aduda to accelerate such initiatives.
Wike stressed that progress depends not on “grammar” but on relationships with people, underscoring the role of community ties in securing government commitments. He announced that the FCT administration will rebuild several key roads in the Karu area, including the routes from Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarter Junction, Customs Clinic Junction to EFCC, NIA Quarters Road, Pasi Road, and Primus Hospital Road. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to stimulate business and economic activity, and each road will be fitted with street lighting. The contractor has been instructed to complete the works within ten months.
The reconstruction of Karu Road forms part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, an initiative aimed at restoring optimism among residents. Wike pledged to inspect the projects regularly to ensure timely completion, positioning Karu as a model for development. He also urged voters to remember the contributions of the government and Chairman Maikalangu during upcoming elections.
With the government’s firm timeline, residents can anticipate improved infrastructure and new economic opportunities.
