FCT Minister Wike Begins Karu Road Reconstruction Project

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed his commitment to executing projects in the capital city and its satellite towns, citing the need to bring development to the area. Wike made this disclosure during the flag-off of the reconstruction and dualization of Karu Road, from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, and other Karu township roads.

According to Wike, he has been under pressure from the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Maikalangu, and former FCT Senator, Philip Aduda, to carry out developmental projects in the capital city and its satellite towns. The minister emphasized the importance of relationships in securing government commitments to projects, stating that “it’s not grammar, but relationship with people” that brings about development.

Wike announced that the FCT Administration will rebuild several roads in the Karu area, including Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarter Junction, Customs Clinic Junction to EFCC, NIA Quarters Road, Pasi Road, and Primus Hospital Road. These projects are expected to boost business and economic activities in the area. The minister also promised that the roads will be equipped with street lights and ordered the contractor to complete the projects within 10 months.

The reconstruction of Karu Road is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, a initiative aimed at bringing hope back to the people. Wike stated that he will be inspecting the projects regularly to ensure their completion and that the Karu area will be a model for development. The minister also urged residents to remember the efforts of the government and the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Maikalangu, during elections.

The execution of these projects is seen as a significant step towards developing the capital city and its satellite towns. With the government’s commitment to completing the projects within a specified timeframe, residents can expect improved infrastructure and economic opportunities in the area. The minister’s emphasis on relationships and community engagement highlights the importance of collaboration in achieving development goals. As the projects progress, it is likely that the Karu area will experience significant transformation, with potential benefits for the local economy and residents.
