President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will begin a working vacation in Europe on Thursday as part of his 2025 annual leave. His spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, announced that the trip will last 10 working days, during which the president will visit France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria. This comes only two weeks after Tinubu’s return from Brazil.

A working vacation is a common practice among heads of state, allowing them to rest while still handling certain official duties. Tinubu’s European itinerary offers an opportunity to meet international leaders and discuss issues of mutual interest. As the head of one of Africa’s largest economies, his engagements with European counterparts could have significant implications for Nigeria’s foreign policy and economic relations.

The recent visit to Brazil may have set the stage for future cooperation with the South American nation, while the upcoming trips to France and the UK are expected to focus on strengthening ties with these key European partners. Although the specific agenda has not been disclosed, the president is likely to use the time to promote Nigeria’s interests and foster greater collaboration with European countries.

During Tinubu’s absence, the Nigerian government will continue to operate normally, with other officials managing day‑to‑day affairs. Upon his return after the 10‑day trip, the president is expected to resume his regular duties, addressing both domestic and international issues affecting Nigeria.
