Ganduje Denies Defecting to ADC Amid Speculation

Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has denied reports that he plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress. His spokesman, Edwin Olofu, described these reports as “fake news” and assured that Ganduje remains a committed member of the APC.

Ganduje’s denial comes two months after he resigned as the National Chairman of the APC on June 27, citing health issues. He had assumed the position on August 3, 2023, during an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee. Prior to his role as APC National Chairman, Ganduje served as the governor of Kano State.

According to Olofu, Ganduje is not only loyal to the APC but also to President Bola Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda. Olofu addressing newsmen on Saturday, urged the public to disregard rumors of Ganduje’s planned departure from the APC, stating that they are baseless and untrue.

The speculation about Ganduje’s potential defection to the ADC had been circulating for some time, with some reports suggesting that he and his followers were considering leaving the APC. However, with Olofu’s statement, it appears that Ganduje has no intention of abandoning the ruling party.

Ganduje’s loyalty to the APC and President Tinubu is significant, given his influence within the party and his experience as a former governor. His commitment to the APC is likely to be seen as a positive development for the party, which has been working to consolidate its position since the last election.

The denial of Ganduje’s planned defection has put to rest speculation about his future in the APC, at least for now. As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how Ganduje’s decision will impact the APC and its relationships with other political parties. For now, it is clear that Ganduje remains a key figure within the APC and is committed to supporting the party and its leadership.
