NNPP Expels Rep Member Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, a member of the House of Representatives, citing anti-party activities and unpaid financial obligations. According to Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, the party’s state chairman, the decision was made in response to Jibrin’s repeated public criticisms of the party and its leadership.

Dungurawa made the announcement during a press briefing in Kano on Saturday, stating that Jibrin’s actions were deemed detrimental to the party’s interests. The chairman described Jibrin as a politician who owes his electoral success to the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform, rather than his own strength. He pointed out that Jibrin was unable to win an election under the All Progressives Congress, but succeeded when he joined the NNPP through the Kwankwasiyya movement.

The expulsion of Jibrin Kofa is a significant development in the political landscape of Kano State. The New Nigeria People’s Party has been a major player in the state’s politics, with the Kwankwasiyya movement being a key factor in the party’s success. The movement, led by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has a large following in the state and has been instrumental in shaping the political direction of the NNPP.

The decision to expel Jibrin Kofa may have implications for the party’s future prospects in the state. As a member of the House of Representatives, Jibrin had a significant role in representing the interests of his constituents. His expulsion may lead to a re-evaluation of the party’s strategy and leadership in the state.

The NNPP’s action against Jibrin Kofa highlights the ongoing tensions within the party and the challenges it faces in maintaining unity and discipline among its members. As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, the New Nigeria People’s Party will need to navigate these challenges to remain a viable force in the country’s politics.
