Kano Lawmaker Jibrin Accepts Expulsion From NNPP, Accuses Party Of Unfairness • Channels Television

Abdulmumin Jibrin, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji, has accepted his expulsion from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) while criticizing the party for failing to provide a fair hearing. The party expelled him on grounds of alleged anti‑party activities and non‑payment of dues. In a statement released after the expulsion, Jibrin said he would have preferred to remain in the NNPP and continue serving his constituents, but the party’s decision obliges him to move on.

Jibrin disputed the party’s claim of unpaid dues, requesting an invoice so he can settle the payment promptly. He linked his expulsion to recent interviews he granted but maintained that he stands by his statements. Although he criticized the party for not following due process, he chose not to challenge the decision in court, opting instead to part ways amicably.

The lawmaker appealed to the party to maintain decorum and avoid personal attacks as they separate. Despite his expulsion, Jibrin emphasized that his relationships with NNPP members will remain unchanged. He welcomed supporters who wish to join him on his new journey and expressed his intention to keep a peaceful, harmonious relationship with those who stay in the party.

Jibrin disclosed that he will carefully consider his options before deciding on his next political move. His expulsion, as an ally of NNPP chieftain Rabiu Kwankwaso, highlights ongoing internal dynamics within the party. As he navigates his next steps, observers will watch closely, recognizing that his experience and constituency could have significant implications for Nigeria’s political landscape.
