NDLEA recovers 653kg Colos, Loud in Lagos, Abuja raids — Daily Nigerian

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized a significant quantity of illicit substances in recent raids conducted in Lagos and Abuja. According to Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA, the agency recovered 653 kg of cannabis sativa, including strong strains such as Colorado and Loud.

In Abuja, NDLEA operatives arrested a dispatch rider in the Gwarimpa area on September 4, seizing 3.1 kg of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis. In Lagos, two suspects were arrested on September 1 while loading distribution vehicles with substantial quantities of cannabis. The seized substances included 9 kg of Canadian Loud, 5 kg of Colorado, and 1,101 compressed blocks of Ghana Loud, weighing a total of 611 kg.

Further raids in Lagos yielded additional seizures. On September 5, 24.4 kg of skunk were recovered from a couple’s home in the Ajegunle area. Another suspect was arrested in Kogi with 53.4 kg of skunk concealed in a vehicle. A related development saw a 23‑year‑old suspect arrested in Auchi, Edo State, in connection with the earlier seizure of 233 kg of skunk in Kakau, Kaduna State.

In separate incidents, NDLEA operatives seized 11,000 pills of tramadol from a suspect in Onitsha, Anambra State, on September 3, and intercepted a vehicle carrying 30 bags of skunk weighing 342 kg along the Minna‑Bida road in Niger State on September 2.

These seizures demonstrate the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat the illicit drug trade in Nigeria. The agency’s actions aim to disrupt the supply chain and reduce the availability of these substances, which can have devastating effects on individuals and communities.
