The Kaduna State Police Command has imposed a ban on all forms of celebrations and rallies related to the election results of the recently concluded presidential and National Assembly elections. This prohibition applies to supporters of all political parties across the 23 local government areas within the state. The decision follows the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which declared Bola Tinubu, the candidate from the All Progressives Congress, as the winner of the presidential election.
In a statement titled “General election: Ban on celebrations and rallies by political party supporters,” issued in Kaduna on Wednesday, the police command informed the public of the ban. The statement emphasized that all forms of celebrations and rallies by political party supporters, whether in support of or opposition to the election outcomes, are prohibited in the state.
Police Public Relations Officer Muhammad Jalige warned that the command would not tolerate any deliberate violations of this ban or any actions that could disrupt law and order. He stated, “Any deliberate act to violate the ban or cause a breakdown of law and order under whatever guise will face the full wrath of the law, as security agencies have been deployed and directed to ensure full enforcement.” Jalige further cautioned individuals intending to defy the order, urging them to refrain from such actions. He assured that the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, is fully prepared to respond decisively to any violations in accordance with existing laws.
The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state, warning that its operatives, alongside other security agencies, would take stringent measures against anyone attempting to incite trouble. Residents are encouraged to continue supporting security agencies in their efforts to safeguard lives and property throughout the state.
