Tinubu meets Macron in Paris for working vacation

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday. This meeting took place during President Tinubu’s ongoing working vacation in Europe, which is part of his 2025 annual leave. He had departed Abuja on September 4 to begin this trip.

According to Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the working vacation is scheduled to last for 10 working days. During this period, President Tinubu is expected to spend time in both France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria. The trip is seen as an opportunity for President Tinubu to engage in diplomatic discussions and strengthen relationships with European leaders.

President Tinubu’s meeting with President Macron at the Élysée Palace highlights the importance of bilateral relations between Nigeria and France. As two significant nations in their respective regions, their leaders’ discussions are likely to cover a range of topics, including trade, security, and cooperation on global issues.

The working vacation also provides President Tinubu with an opportunity to take a break from his duties in Nigeria and focus on international diplomacy. With Nigeria being a key player in African politics and economy, President Tinubu’s interactions with European leaders can have significant implications for the country’s foreign policy and economic development.

As President Tinubu continues his trip, it is expected that he will meet with other leaders and dignitaries in the UK, further solidifying Nigeria’s relationships with its European partners. The outcomes of these meetings will be closely watched, given their potential impact on Nigeria’s position on the global stage. Upon his return, President Tinubu is expected to resume his duties, potentially with new insights and agreements that could shape Nigeria’s future engagements with Europe.
