African business world prepares for fourth edition of Unstoppable Africa summit

The African business community is gearing up for the fourth edition of Unstoppable Africa, an event organized by the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI). It will take place on September 21‑22 in New York, concurrently with the UN General Assembly.

According to Sanda Ojiambo, chief of the United Nations Global Compact, the initiative seeks to change the global perception of Africa and its business landscape. Launched by the UN Global Compact in 2022, the Global Africa Business Initiative aims to amplify the voices of ambitious African private‑sector leaders and has received support from the African Union, underscoring its importance in promoting African business interests.

The 2025 edition of Unstoppable Africa will focus on the continent’s role in shaping global markets and its potential for leadership in international trade. The forum will bring together private‑sector stakeholders, governments, and policymakers to discuss the future of African business. Ojiambo emphasized the resilience of the private sector, noting that “even where there is conflict and strife, business will still continue.”

Previous editions have attracted significant attention, with 10 heads of state and over 8,000 participants attending, according to the UN. The initiative’s goals align with the African Union’s efforts to promote economic development and integration across the continent. By providing a platform for African businesses to connect with global stakeholders, Unstoppable Africa aims to facilitate investments, partnerships, and trade opportunities while addressing key challenges such as access to finance, infrastructure development, and regulatory frameworks.

As the global business community converges on New York for the UN General Assembly, the Unstoppable Africa event is poised to shape the conversation on African business and economic development. With its focus on promoting private‑sector leadership and entrepreneurship, the initiative has the potential to drive meaningful change and contribute to the continent’s economic growth and prosperity. The fourth edition is expected to build on the momentum of its predecessors, offering a venue for constructive dialogue and the exploration of collaborative and investment opportunities.
