Trump issues Ukraine conflict ultimatum to all NATO members — RT World News

U.S. President Donald Trump has urged NATO members to stop buying Russian oil, warning that failure to do so could lead him to impose sanctions on Moscow. In a recent statement, Trump criticized NATO countries for not doing enough to halt the Russia‑Ukraine conflict and called for a unified stance.

Trump suggested that NATO nations impose steep tariffs—between 50 % and 100 %—on China, arguing that such measures could help end the war in Ukraine. He said the tariffs could be lifted once the conflict is resolved, presenting them as leverage against Russia. China, meanwhile, has maintained a neutral position, denying any assistance to either side.

NATO officials and EU leaders have not yet responded to Trump’s appeal. The United States has been urging the EU to add further tariffs on countries such as China and India, which continue to import Russian oil. A European Commission spokesperson confirmed that the EU is discussing sanctions enforcement with global partners, including India and China.

The EU is finalizing its 19th sanctions package against Russia, which is expected to target Russian oil exports and the banking sector. Although the bloc remains committed to phasing out Russian fossil‑fuel imports by 2027, some member states—particularly Hungary and Slovakia—have voiced opposition because they rely on crude oil delivered through the Druzhba pipeline.

Russia has denounced Western sanctions as “illegal,” claiming they have failed to weaken its economy and have instead spurred domestic development. The ongoing sanctions and diplomatic talks underscore the complexities faced by international leaders in addressing the Ukraine conflict while managing economic ties with Russia and other global powers. As the situation evolves, the responses of NATO, the EU, and other actors will be crucial in shaping the conflict’s trajectory and its broader implications.
