President Bola Tinubu has extended congratulations to Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, on her election as Vice‑President of Airports Council International (ACI) Africa. The presidential message was conveyed through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Presidential Spokesperson, in Abuja.

The ACI, the global trade body representing airports worldwide, sets international standards, policies and best practices for airport management and operations. Mrs. Kuku’s election was ratified at the 34th ACI Africa General Assembly, held in Lusaka, Zambia, from 13 to 19 September. Her appointment follows previous service as ACI Africa Regional Advisor and secures her a permanent seat on the ACI World Governing Board.

President Tinubu praised the dedication of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s leadership in ensuring safe and efficient air transport in the country, noting that this effort is now recognized on the global stage. He commended Mrs. Kuku’s foresight and leadership, which will be instrumental as she assumes her new role.

Founded in 1991, the Airports Council International oversees more than 2,000 airports in over 170 countries and territories under the supervision of its Governing Board. As Vice‑President of ACI Africa, Mrs. Kuku will play a significant role in shaping the future of airport management and operations across the continent.

Her election highlights Nigeria’s growing influence in global aviation. Her leadership and expertise are expected to contribute to the development of international standards and best practices, ultimately enhancing the safety and efficiency of air transport in Africa. The recognition of Mrs. Kuku’s leadership and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s efforts underscores the importance of Nigeria’s role in global aviation, and its continued participation in organizations like ACI will remain crucial as the industry evolves.
