To address the safety concerns identified, a mandatory four‑day refresher training will be held for all Abuja‑Kaduna Train Service personnel, beginning on September 22. Completion of this training is required before services can resume on the corridor. During the session, Dr. Opeifa also reviewed the progress of recovery efforts and outlined plans for a safe recommencement of operations.
In a prayer session, the Managing Director expressed gratitude that lives were saved during the incident and praised staff for their coordinated emergency response. He reaffirmed the approved 95 % salary increase for employees, which is slated for implementation before the end of the year, and warned locomotive drivers against issuing strike notices, noting the disruptive impact such actions would have on national service delivery.
The Nigerian Union of Railway Workers welcomed Dr. Opeifa’s approval of weekend incentives for Abuja‑Kaduna Train Service staff.
