President Bola Tinubu attended the wedding of Fatiha Nasirudeen, son of former Zamfara Governor Sen. Abdul’Aziz Yari, at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna on Friday. The ceremony attracted a large crowd of top political leaders, traditional rulers, and industry captains from across Nigeria. Security measures were heightened in Kaduna ahead of the event, with increased surveillance and hotels fully booked by guests. On the day of the wedding, a heavy security presence surrounded the mosque, and vehicular movement was restricted.

President Tinubu was received at Kaduna International Airport by Governor Uba Sani and greeted by party loyalists and residents who lined the streets, waving banners and chanting solidarity songs. The wedding ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Governors Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Umar Bago of Niger, Dikko Radda of Katsina, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara. Other notable attendees were Minister of State for Defence Dr. Bello Matawalle and former Governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, and Adamu Aliero of Kebbi. Traditional rulers such as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmad Bamali, were also present. Renowned clerics, including Sheikh Kabiru Gombe and Sheikh Bala Lau, offered prayers for the couple and the country.

The groom, Nasirudeen, married Safiyya Shehu Idris, daughter of Shehu Tahir‑Malumfashi. After the ceremony, President Tinubu visited the residence of the late President Muhammadu Buhari to condole with his family. He praised Buhari as a selfless leader who made significant contributions to Nigeria’s unity and progress, assuring the family of his continued support.

Residents described the wedding as one of the largest social and political gatherings in recent times, noting heavy vehicular and human traffic despite restrictions. The event highlighted the significance of traditional and cultural ceremonies in Nigerian society, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and professions. As the country continues to navigate its social and political landscape, such gatherings serve as important reminders of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and the need for unity and cooperation.
