Shooting suspect in US shouted ‘Free Palestine’ – witness — RT World News

A shooting at a wedding in Nashua, New Hampshire, left one man dead and several others injured. The attack occurred Saturday evening at the Sky Meadow Country Club when a gunman entered the venue and opened fire, prompting emergency calls to authorities. Attorney General John M. Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke said a single adult male fired multiple shots before being detained at the scene. Police confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Initial reports that two shooters were involved were later disproved by video surveillance. Witness Tom Bartelson, who was attending the wedding, said he heard about six shots and did not immediately recognize the sound. He recalled the gunman appearing to target a specific individual while shouting, “the children are safe” and “free Palestine.” When asked about a possible motive, New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinckley declined to speculate, noting that the investigation will focus on gathering facts.

Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess called the event a “tragedy,” emphasizing that “one loss of life is still too many.” The shooting comes amid heightened tensions in the United States over the Israel‑Hamas war, which has spurred frequent demonstrations by both pro‑Palestinian and pro‑Israeli groups, sometimes resulting in confrontations. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive and are urging the public to remain calm and cooperate.
