The Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party has announced its intention to challenge the outcome of the February 25 presidential election, which declared Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress as President-elect. The campaign has reassured party supporters that efforts are underway to reclaim the party’s mandate, urging them to remain optimistic during this time.

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, Dino Melaye, the spokesperson and Director of Public Affairs for the campaign committee, characterized the election results as a “grave injustice.” He called upon all supporters of Atiku to stay resolute, stating, “Weeping may tarry till night but joy cometh in the morning. This grave injustice shall not stand. The battle to retrieve our stolen mandate is a battle of no retreat, no surrender. We shall overcome.”

The announcement of Tinubu as President-elect was made by Yakubu Mahmoud, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, in the early hours of Wednesday. Tinubu secured 8,794,726 votes, defeating his closest rival, Atiku, who garnered 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who received 6,101,533 votes.
