PDP holds NEC meeting, suspends discussion on national secretary position — Daily Nigerian

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced an indefinite extension of the deadline for submitting expressions of interest and nomination forms for aspirants. The decision, made by the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC), follows the original deadline of Friday, September 26. According to Debo Ologunagba, Secretary of the Publicity Sub‑Committee, a new deadline has not yet been set; it will be communicated publicly once decided. The extension is intended to ensure smooth arrangements for the exercise.

In addition, the committee has approved moving the screening date for aspirants, which was initially scheduled for Tuesday, September 30. New screening dates will be announced in due course, and aspirants are urged to note the extension and plan accordingly.

The PDP’s national elective convention is slated for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan. This event will shape the party’s leadership and direction, making the deadline extension and screening date adjustment crucial for a thorough and well‑organized process. By providing more time for aspirants to complete required procedures and for the party to finalize arrangements, the NCOC aims to ensure that all processes are carried out efficiently and fairly.

As the convention approaches, it will attract close attention both within Nigeria and internationally. The outcomes will have significant implications for the PDP’s future role in Nigerian politics, and the party’s ability to manage its internal processes effectively will be pivotal to its success.
