Kwara Medical Outreach Relocates Due to Insecurity Concerns

The Kwara State government has announced a change of venue for the 2025 Medical and Surgical Outreach Programme in Ifelodun Local Government Area due to insecurity concerns. The event, initially scheduled to take place at the Specialist Hospital in Oke-Ode, will now be held at the Cottage Hospital in Omupo. This decision follows a recent attack by armed bandits on Oke-Ode town, resulting in casualties and abductions.

According to Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the Kwara State Commissioner for Health, the relocation is part of the government’s efforts to ensure the safety and accessibility of healthcare services for residents. The outreach programme, slated for October 14th, 2025, aims to provide free medical consultations, surgical procedures, and essential healthcare services to enhance the well-being of locals.

The Kwara State government has been working to deliver quality healthcare services across the state, and this programme is a key component of those efforts. Dr El-Imam encouraged residents of Ifelodun Local Government Area and neighbouring communities to take advantage of the free services, underscoring the government’s commitment to prioritising the health and safety of its citizens.

The medical outreach programme is expected to improve healthcare accessibility and service delivery in the region. By relocating the event to a more secure location, the government hopes to ensure that residents can access necessary medical care without fear of violence or intimidation. As the programme approaches, residents are advised to seize the opportunity to receive free medical consultations and treatments, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.

The change of venue highlights the government’s responsiveness to security concerns and its dedication to providing essential services to its citizens. With the new location in place, the 2025 Medical and Surgical Outreach Programme is poised to make a positive impact on the health and lives of residents in Ifelodun Local Government Area and beyond.
