Nigerian Minister Commiserates with Arise News Over Staff Death

Nigeria’s Minister, Mr. Wike, has expressed condolences to the management and staff of Arise News Channel following the death of their staff member, Somtochukwu Maduagwu. In a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Minister described Maduagwu’s death as tragic and painful.

Maduagwu was brought to the Maitama General Hospital dead on Monday at about 4:30 a.m., according to a report by the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Mandate Secretary on Health, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe. The Minister assured that the police would investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and bring those responsible to justice. He noted that her death is not only a loss to the Arise News family but also to the Nigerian media and the entire nation.

The Minister called for continuous prayers and support for the staff and management of Arise News, particularly the Chairman, Nduka Obaigbena, and the family and friends of the deceased. He prayed that God would accept Maduagwu’s soul and give her loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.
