The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has dismissed as false a media report claiming that it has formed an alliance with the major opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state. This clarification was made in a statement released on Thursday by Akeem Olatunji, the Publicity Secretary of the Oyo PDP.

In the statement, the PDP emphasized, “The PDP Oyo State wishes to draw the attention of the general public to the news making the rounds that the PDP in Oyo State is in support of the All Progressives Congress candidate in the March 11, 2023 elections.” The party firmly rejected the claim, labeling it a “wicked lie” propagated by the desperate leadership of the Oyo State APC, which they allege has already conceded defeat ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

Furthermore, the PDP pointed out that the Twitter account circulating this misinformation, @PDPVanguard, is associated with pro-APC social media influencers and has no official ties to the PDP at either the state or national levels.

In conclusion, the PDP called on its supporters and all advocates of good governance to turn out in large numbers on Saturday, March 11, 2023, to vote for Seyi Makinde and all PDP candidates in the State House of Assembly elections, urging that the good works of the party should continue.
