Dangote Refinery Operations Unaffected by PENGASSAN Strike

The Dangote Refinery has stated that its operations were not disrupted by the two-day strike action embarked upon by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). The refinery expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Federal Government officials for their timely intervention, which led to the halt of the strike.

According to the refinery, the intervention of President Tinubu, his ministers, and senior officials resulted in the abatement of the disruption caused by PENGASSAN’s strike actions. The company acknowledged the efforts of Nigeria’s Security Chiefs, including the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Directors General of the Department of State Security and the National Intelligence Agency, in resolving the issue.

The refinery attributed the uninterrupted operations to the loyalty and dedication of its workers, who ensured that activities were not disrupted “even for a second.” The company praised its workers for their allegiance and commitment to its mission and vision, despite provocative comments and directives from detractors.

The strike action was declared by PENGASSAN in response to the mass sacking of Nigerian workers by Dangote Refinery. However, following the intervention of the Federal Government, both parties reached a truce, and the strike was called off after two days.

Dangote Refinery has thanked Nigerians for their solidarity, noting that the Dangote Group is Nigeria’s largest private employer of labor and a significant contributor to the country’s tax revenues. The company’s appreciation statement was released on its social media account, expressing gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the resolution of the dispute.

The swift resolution of the strike action has averted potential disruptions to Nigeria’s energy sector, ensuring the continued operations of the refinery and maintaining stability in the industry. As the country’s largest private employer and a major contributor to the economy, the Dangote Group plays a significant role in Nigeria’s economic development. The company’s commitment to its workers and the Nigerian economy is evident in its efforts to resolve the dispute and maintain uninterrupted operations.
