EPL: Haaland now quickest player on 100 goal involvements, surpasses Shearer, Cantona, others

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed speculation about Erling Haaland’s future, affirming the Norwegian striker’s commitment to the club. Guardiola said Haaland is dedicated to staying at the Etihad Stadium for the long term, despite links to several top European sides, including Real Madrid and Barcelona. He believes Haaland will see out his contract, which runs until the summer of 2027, adding, “I think Erling is not stupid enough to sign a long contract he would not like to accomplish. That’s for sure.”

Guardiola also acknowledged the inherent uncertainty in football, noting, “Who knows what is going to happen next time? Nobody knows!” Haaland’s contract has attracted attention because of his impressive performances and interest from other clubs. Nevertheless, Guardiola’s comments suggest the striker is focused on Manchester City and has no immediate plans to leave.

The former Premier League champions are working to retain key players and build a strong squad for the upcoming season, and Haaland’s commitment is a significant factor in those plans. As the season progresses, both the club and its fans will watch his performances closely, hoping he continues to deliver impressive results and helps the team achieve its goals. With Guardiola’s reassurance, the focus can now shift to the upcoming matches and Manchester City’s bid to reclaim the Premier League title.
