The Osun State College of Health Technology in Ilesa is set to reclaim a parcel of land currently occupied by the Ministry of Water Resources. This decision was made by the institution’s Governing Council, which also resolved to upgrade the college from a monotechnic to a polytechnic.
In a recent statement, the college’s Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Omoyeni, said the Governing Council met to discuss key issues affecting the institution. Chairman Abayomi Adegoke emphasized that developing and transforming the college is a top priority for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration. He noted the governor’s commitment to maintaining the college’s reputation as a leading health‑training institution in the country and urged all stakeholders to support the ongoing developmental drive, describing it as a collective responsibility.
Adegoke highlighted the need to improve the college’s physical structures and aesthetics so that they compare favorably with other campuses nationwide. He disclosed that the council has resolved to reclaim the strategically located land, which is expected to provide significant economic benefits and boost the college’s internally generated revenue through various potential uses.
The council also called for immediate steps to strengthen security around the college, including the appointment of a Chief Security Officer. Provost Dr. Lateef Olarewaju assured the Governing Council that management is ready to work diligently to achieve the board’s objectives.
These planned upgrades and land reclamation are significant steps toward enhancing the college’s status and reputation. With the support of Governor Adeleke’s administration, the institution is poised for growth that will benefit students, staff, and the broader community.
