The National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora (NANS) congratulated Bola Tinubu on his recent emergence as the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This announcement followed the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, which confirmed the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate as the winner of the February 25 general elections. In a statement issued by its President, John Ogar, the student body also commended Nigerians for their active participation in the elections and for ensuring a peaceful process.

The congratulatory message highlighted the significant turnout during the elections, describing it as impressive and commendable. Ogar stated, “The leadership of NANS Diaspora ably led by Ogar John wishes to convey our congratulations to the President-elect Ahmed Tinubu on his victory in the presidential polls that were conducted fortnight ago.” He emphasized that this turnout reflects the collective resolve to create a better, more productive, and progressive nation, showcasing a firm belief in Nigeria and a deep love for the country.

In his statement, Ogar appealed to fellow compatriots to maintain peace, asserting that violence is not a solution to the concerns, anger, and disappointment stemming from the election results. While acknowledging the “irregularities” that marred the electoral process, he urged aggrieved candidates to seek redress through lawful means. He stated, “Conversely, while condemning the gross irregularities that took place during the exercise and the inefficiency of INEC, I wish to appeal to all the aggrieved parties to explore lawful channels in seeking redress and not to resort to violence or any conduct that may lead to a breakdown of law and order in our beloved nation.” Ogar concluded with a hopeful message, emphasizing that ultimately, Nigeria shall prevail, and its citizens will remain united as one indivisible nation under God.
