NOUN appoints Professor Uduma as new Vice-Chancellor

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has announced that Professor Uduma O. Uduma will assume the role of Vice‑Chancellor on 11 February 2026. The university’s Governing Council ratified the recommendation of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board, clearing the way for Professor Uduma to succeed the current Vice‑Chancellor at the end of the latter’s term.

Professor Uduma is a distinguished scholar of philosophy and logic and a Barrister‑at‑Law. Born on 30 January 1966, he earned his first degree from the University of Calabar, graduating as the best student in his faculty, and later obtained a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Lagos. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007.

Within NOUN, Professor Uduma has held several senior positions, including Head of Department, Director of General Studies, Director of Academic Planning, and Deputy Vice‑Chancellor (Academic). He also served as Study Centre Director in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, where he expanded student enrolment from 496 to over 2,000. As a prolific researcher, he has contributed significantly to philosophy, logic, and educational management.

Isa Yuguda, Pro‑Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, congratulated Professor Uduma on his appointment, expressing confidence that his leadership and vision will advance NOUN’s mission of expanding access to quality education across Nigeria and beyond. “The University looks forward to Professor Uduma’s leadership as he assumes office on 11 February 2026.
