Traditional musician John Zuya, also known as John Mai Molo, has died in Bauchi State, Nigeria. The renowned artist allegedly consumed poisoned food in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, which led to his death. Shortly after his arrival, he ate a meal that made him feel unwell, and he subsequently collapsed.
He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 7:00 a.m. on October 18, 2025. Fellow musician and close associate Emma Wakili announced Zuya’s passing on Facebook. The body has been taken to the hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy, and authorities are investigating the cause of death.
