PRNigeria trains 50 youths in effective communication — Daily Nigerian

PRNigeria, a media company, has partnered with the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to train 50 youths in effective communication. The program, which began last year, aims to empower Nigerian youths in the field of communication. According to Yushau Shuaib, Editor‑in‑Chief of PR‑Nigeria, the initiative has already trained participants in three states—Abuja, Kano and Ilorin—representing the North, South and Central regions of the country. The training is provided free of charge, unlike many online courses that can cost hundreds of thousands of naira.

Shuaib emphasized the importance of teaching ethics in the profession, including fact‑checking, journalism, public communication and public relations. The goal is to equip the youths with the skills and knowledge needed to become ambassadors of PR‑Nigeria and of Nigeria as a whole. The program is set to continue, with plans to train more youths in the future.

During the induction of ten young Fellows of PR‑Nigeria, guest speaker Prof. Saudat Abdulbaki, a lecturer at the University of Ilorin, highlighted the significance of communication. She explained that effective communication requires intentionality, resilience, determination and composure, and stressed the importance of feedback to ensure that the message is understood by the audience. Prof. Abdulbaki also advised the Fellows to keep learning, noting that there is no end to education in the field of public relations.

Team leader Adebisi Adams expressed gratitude to the organizers for empowering the participants intellectually and imparting communication knowledge. The trainees learned the importance of disseminating information with clarity and factual evidence to help build a great nation.

The collaboration between PRNigeria and NITDA demonstrates a commitment to developing the communication skills of Nigerian youths. As the program expands, it is likely to have a positive impact on the country’s communication landscape, promoting effective and ethical practices. With the growing importance of social media and technology in advocacy, sensitisation and awareness, training young communicators is a step in the right direction.
