Gov. Kefas absent as Taraba communities hold mass burial for victims of herders' attack

The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youths Council has voiced strong opposition to the reported defection of Governor Agbu Kefas to the APC. In a statement released on Thursday in Jalingo, the council called the move “unacceptable” and contrary to the party’s ideals.

Youth leaders from across the state convened and unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on the governor, arguing that his political ideology and leadership style do not align with the progressive principles of the APC. State Coordinator Bilyamin Musa said the youths reject Governor Kefas’ defection, emphasizing that he is not a progressive leader and that the APC is not a suitable platform for him.

The council accused Governor Kefas of lacking vision and capacity, alleging that his two‑year tenure has not yielded significant development in Taraba State. It urged the national APC leadership to consider the concerns of Taraba youths and to ensure that the party remains a platform for visionary, disciplined, and development‑driven leaders.

Despite the criticism, the APC Youths Council reaffirmed its loyalty to the party and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, pledging to continue strengthening the party and mobilizing support for its success across the state. The council’s stance highlights internal dynamics within the APC and the expectations of its members regarding leadership and ideology.

The development comes as the APC continues to navigate its growth and expansion in Taraba State. The party’s national leadership will likely face pressure to address the concerns of its youth wing and other stakeholders in the state. As Nigeria’s political landscape evolves, the APC’s ability to manage internal dynamics and balance the interests of its members will be crucial to its success, and the outcome of this situation will be closely watched by political observers and analysts nationwide.
