Governor Alia urges Nigerians to embrace patriotism, pray for nation’s progress

Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia urged Nigerians to revive their patriotism and faith, essential ingredients for a stronger, more unified nation. Speaking during a Holy Mass at the Government House Chapel in Makurdi, he stressed that true nationalism means loving the country and maintaining a positive outlook despite existing challenges. He warned against actions or statements that could undermine national unity and called for the promotion of peace, hope, and mutual responsibility among citizens.

The Governor emphasized that Nigeria’s development is a collective endeavor requiring unity, optimism, and diligence from all Nigerians. “Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we must continue to pray for our country, believe in its potential, and contribute to its growth,” he said. During the Mass, he offered special prayers for the souls of the departed, including members of the Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives for national security, past leaders, and all Nigerians striving for a better future. He asked for divine wisdom, strength, and protection for every citizen.

Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace, development, and moral rejuvenation, assuring that his government will continue implementing policies that improve the welfare of the Benue people and contribute to Nigeria’s overall progress. He encouraged Nigerians of all faiths and regions to remain steadfast in praying for the country’s peace, stability, and prosperity, emphasizing that collective faith and patriotic action are crucial for a great nation.

As Nigeria navigates its development journey, the governor’s call for unity and patriotism serves as a reminder of the importance of collective effort in achieving national progress. With a diverse population and rich cultural heritage, fostering a sense of nationalism and shared responsibility is essential for addressing the challenges ahead. By promoting peace, hope, and mutual responsibility, Nigerians can work together toward building a stronger, more united nation.
