The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced that 17 ships are expected to arrive at the Apapa and Tin‑Can Island ports in Lagos between 3 and 7 November. According to the NPA’s daily Shipping Position document, 13 of these vessels will be carrying petroleum products such as crude oil, diesel, aviation fuel, gas oil, gasoline and petrol, while the remaining four ships will be laden with containers of various goods.
In addition to the scheduled arrivals, six ships have already berthed at the ports and are awaiting clearance to discharge cargo that includes general cargo, petrol, containers and bulk urea. At present, 16 vessels are actively discharging a range of goods—general cargoes, bulk wheat, fresh fish, bulk gas, containers and petrol.
The NPA also reported that 14 ships are expected to arrive at Lekki Port in Lagos during the same period (3–7 November). These vessels will transport crude oil, aviation fuel, containers, diesel, petrol and gas oil. Currently, nine ships are waiting to berth at Lekki Port, carrying cargoes such as crude oil, gasoline, bulk urea, petrol and gas oil.
These announcements highlight the busy schedule of Nigeria’s ports, which play a critical role in the country’s economy. The authority’s daily Shipping Position document provides essential information to stakeholders—including shipping companies, importers and exporters—about vessel movements and cargo operations. As the ports continue to receive and discharge cargo, the NPA’s updates will be closely watched by industry players and observers, underscoring the importance of efficient port operations in facilitating trade and economic growth in Nigeria.
