INEC manipulating Plateau Central NASS poll results – PDP candidate

The senatorial candidate for Plateau Central zone, Golkuna Gotom has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare him the winner of the National Assembly polls held last Saturday.

He wondered why the results are yet to be declared about a week after the election was conducted.

He also alleged that if the election was won by the ruling APC, the results would have been declared, but because they lost, INEC is looking for a way to manipulate it in favour of the APC candidate.

Gotom raised the alarm while briefing journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital, saying any attempt to steal his mandate would be resisted by the electorate.

He said: “From all indications, the office of INEC on the Plateau has been compromised, if not, I demand the release of the results of the Plateau Central senatorial zone today.

“How on earth would a senatorial election conducted since last Saturday would not be declared up till now, that is seven days [after], this is most unfortunate.”

Continuing, he said: “This was similar [to the] tactics deployed against Timothy Golu and David Paradang for the House of Representatives seat for Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam and Senate respectively in the 2019 general elections, but God’s willing, it will not work this time around.

“As an ICT wizard, I’m aware of all the pranks they are trying to perpetuate; how can an election be conducted since last Saturday, and the results are yet to be uploaded, only for us to see that results are being uploaded today, with only a picture of just one lady, nobody can be tricked. Let them bring the BVAS and let’s see the number of accredited voters.”

Gotom alleged that “these results are being manipulated in Kanam LGA, but we will resist their attempts.”
