PDP Ebonyi Dismisses Leaders’ Suspension

The Ebonyi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected a purported suspension of its leaders by an individual claiming to be the party’s publicity secretary. The affected officials include the 2023 governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the deputy governorship candidate, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, and other senior members.

In a statement issued by Moses Idika, Director of Media and Publicity for the Anyi Ga Emeya Movement, it was noted that the PDP in Ebonyi State currently has no state working committee, rendering it incapable of making decisions on behalf of the party. This clarification follows the nullification and quashing of a congress organized by the expelled former South‑East zonal chairman, a decision upheld by a Federal High Court judgment in November 2024. The court in Abuja further affirmed the nullification of the congress and the expulsion of Ali Odefa from the PDP in a ruling on 31 October 2025.

Consequently, the PDP has urged the public to disregard the alleged suspension, emphasizing that the individual behind it lacks the authority to take such action. The Ebonyi State chapter is now working with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to schedule a new congress, as ordered by the federal high court. Party leaders are taking steps to ensure that internal processes comply with the court’s rulings and the party’s constitution.

The rejected suspension is viewed as an attempt to disrupt the party’s activities in the state. Nevertheless, the PDP has reassured its members and the public of its commitment to upholding the rule of law and adhering to internal procedures. As the party moves forward with plans for a new congress, further updates on its activities and leadership structure are expected.

These developments in the Ebonyi State chapter form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the PDP’s internal processes and ensure compliance with court rulings.
