NPFL: Remo Stars deserved win over Enyimba - Ogunmodede

Remo Stars have dismissed reports that head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has resigned. The speculation surfaced on Tuesday after the Sky Blue Stars endured a poor start to the 2025/26 NPFL season, sitting 17th on the table with 10 points from eight games. The club’s recent setbacks also include an early exit from the CAF Champions League, where they lost 7‑1 on aggregate to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Remo Stars confirmed that Ogunmodede remains in charge and continues to be an integral part of the technical staff. The club emphasized that he will retain his current role as head coach. In addition to his club duties, Ogunmodede, who also serves as an assistant coach for the Super Eagles, will travel with the national team’s backroom staff to Rabat, Morocco, this weekend for the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff tie against Gabon.

The confirmation provides stability for a team seeking to improve its performance in the ongoing NPFL campaign. By retaining Ogunmodede, Remo Stars aim to reassure fans, sponsors and stakeholders about the continuity of their leadership despite recent setbacks. With the season still in its early stages, the Sky Blue Stars are focused on turning their fortunes around, climbing the league table and regaining their footing.

As the team prepares for upcoming matches, the emphasis will be on better performances and leveraging Ogunmodede’s experience and expertise to drive progress. The coming weeks will be crucial in shaping the trajectory of Remo Stars’ season, and supporters will be watching closely to see how the club responds to the challenges ahead.
