Results from the Anambra State governorship election have begun to trickle in after voting concluded at 2 p.m. across the state’s polling units. Although the official closing time was 2 p.m., the law permits voters already in line to cast their ballots, so some counts continued beyond that hour. In units where voting has ended and ballots have been tallied, preliminary figures are now being reported.
In Nnokwa, Idemili South Local Government Area, Polling Unit 015 (Ward 09) shows the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) leading with 60 votes. The All Progressives Congress (APC) follows with 15 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) and Young Progressives Party (YPP) each have 2 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured a single vote.
In Uruagu Ward 1, Nnewi North Local Government Area, Polling Unit 018 records APGA with 69 votes, LP with 21 votes, APC with 14 votes, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 1 vote. Two votes were declared invalid, and out of 563 registered voters, 107 were accredited to vote.
At Polling Unit 003, Ward 09 in Nnokwa, Idemili South LGA, APGA again leads with 108 votes, followed by APC (30 votes), YPP (6 votes), ADC (3 votes), LP (2 votes), PDP (2 votes), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with 1 vote.
In Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, Polling Unit 10 (Ward 2) shows APGA with 132 votes, APC with 39 votes, YPP with 13 votes, ADC with 5 votes, and no votes for LP. Meanwhile, at Polling Unit 009, Ward 1, Igbo‑Ukwu, Aguata LGA, APGA leads with 134 votes, followed by YPP (19 votes), APC (5 votes), PDP (3 votes), and LP (1 vote).
As more results emerge from across Anambra State, the picture of the governorship race is becoming clearer. The election is significant because it will determine the state’s next leader. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to announce the official results once all votes have been counted and verified. The people of Anambra State await the final outcome, which will shape the state’s future.
