Miss Universe director fired over abuse of Miss Mexico

The Miss Universe Organisation has taken swift action against its Executive Director, Nawat Itsaragrisil, following an incident involving Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch. During a pre-pageant ceremony in Thailand, Nawat allegedly referred to Bosch as “dumb” for not posting promotional content on her social media platform. This comment was deemed disrespectful and undermining by Bosch, who subsequently walked out of the event along with several contestants from other countries in a show of solidarity.

The incident occurred ahead of the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, prompting a swift response from the organisation’s leadership. Raúl Rocha, President of Miss Universe, addressed the situation in an Instagram video, announcing that Nawat’s participation in the 74th Miss Universe competition has been restricted. Rocha emphasized the importance of respecting the dignity and values of women, stating that he will not allow these principles to be violated.

The decision to sanction Nawat reflects the organisation’s commitment to maintaining a respectful and professional environment for all contestants. The Miss Universe pageant, which aims to celebrate women’s empowerment and diversity, has a global following and is broadcast in numerous countries. The organisation’s leadership has demonstrated its dedication to upholding the values of respect, dignity, and inclusivity that the pageant represents.

As the 2025 Miss Universe pageant proceeds, the focus will be on the contestants and their achievements, rather than the incident involving Nawat. The organisation’s prompt response to the situation has helped to mitigate any potential damage and ensures that the competition can continue without distraction. With the pageant’s global audience and reputation at stake, the Miss Universe Organisation’s actions underscore its commitment to promoting a positive and respectful experience for all participants.
