Miss Universe 2025 director dismissed after humiliating Mexico's representative

The Miss Universe Organisation acted swiftly against its Executive Director, Nawat Itsaragrisil, after an incident involving Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch. During a pre‑pageant ceremony in Thailand, Nawat allegedly called Bosch “dumb” because she had not posted promotional content on her social‑media platform. Bosch found the remark disrespectful and undermining, and she walked out of the event together with several contestants from other countries in a show of solidarity.

The incident occurred ahead of the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, prompting an immediate response from the organisation’s leadership. Raúl Rocha, President of Miss Universe, addressed the situation in an Instagram video, announcing that Nawat’s participation in the 74th Miss Universe competition has been restricted. Rocha emphasized the importance of respecting the dignity and values of women, stating that he will not allow those principles to be violated. The sanction reflects the organisation’s commitment to maintaining a respectful and professional environment for all contestants.

The Miss Universe pageant, which celebrates women’s empowerment and diversity, has a global following and is broadcast in numerous countries. By promptly addressing the issue, the organisation has demonstrated its dedication to upholding respect, dignity and inclusivity—core values of the pageant. As the 2025 competition proceeds, the focus will remain on the contestants and their achievements rather than the incident involving Nawat. The Miss Universe Organisation’s actions underscore its commitment to providing a positive, respectful experience for all participants and protecting the pageant’s global reputation.
