Former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El‑Rufai urged residents of Zamfara State to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to help address the state’s security and economic challenges. Speaking at a gathering of ADC supporters in Gusau, he highlighted the party’s plans to enhance security, boost the economy and improve food supply in Zamfara. El‑Rufai stressed the importance of unity among party members, warned against sabotage and called for collaboration with youth and women’s groups to raise awareness of the party’s activities at the grassroots level. He also advised voters to prepare their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The visit was seen as a significant boost to the party’s efforts to maintain stability and cooperation among its members in the state, according to Abubakar Atiku, ADC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary. State ADC Chairman Alhaji Kabiru Garba noted that participants came from all 14 local government areas of Zamfara, including youths and women, demonstrating the party’s growing appeal and increasing membership. The gathering also attracted local politicians, Islamic scholars and other community stakeholders, underscoring the party’s effort to engage diverse groups and build support.
As the 2027 elections approach, the ADC is positioning itself as a viable alternative to existing parties, focusing on the pressing issues facing Zamfara State and the country as a whole. Its initiatives to improve security, economic development and food supply are especially relevant in Zamfara, which has faced significant challenges in these areas. By engaging local communities and promoting its vision for the state’s future, the party hopes to build momentum and attract new supporters. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the ADC’s activities will be closely watched by observers and voters, with the party’s success likely to have significant implications for both state and national politics.
