Suspected thugs planning to attack Oyo APC gov candidate, aide alleges

Yekeen Olaniyi, a media aide to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Teslim Folarin, on Friday, alleged that some unknown thugs were planning to attack his boss in Ibadan, the state capital.

He told The on the telephone phone that, “Some thugs suspected to be members of the Parks Management System in the state have been trailing my principal since last Monday.

“But unfortunately for the chairman of the PMS, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called Auxiliary, the APC candidate, Folarin, is having a good relationship with some PDP members who are loyal to him and always ready to work with him. So, they revealed all this information to us. My boss has some people who are feeding us with that information.

“One of our fillers in their camp told my boss last week their efforts so far. I wouldn’t like to say much about it but we want the relevant security agencies to take action now. This is not a time to begin going after a particular candidate when elections remain a few days.”

When asked about the security measures taken by Folarin so far on the allegation, Olaniyi said, “I will not reveal information about the security situation of my boss, however, I will call on the Inspector General of Police, the Director of the DSS, Nigeria Intelligence Agency and other relevant security agencies to take necessary action on this.”

All efforts to get the reaction of the PMS Public Relations Officer, Jelili Emiola, were not successful, but a close aide of Auxiliary, who preferred anonymity, said, “What concerns Auxiliary with him. Auxiliary is not after him. Auxiliary is only after the success of his party — the Peoples Democratic Party — in the coming governorship election.”
