The Action People’s Party in Imo State has strongly condemned the killing of two individuals by alleged officials of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO). A disturbing video clip circulating on social media brought the incident to light, prompting the party to express shock and outrage over the recurring loss of innocent lives due to the alleged recklessness of ENTRACO officials—a pattern that appears to be entrenched in the state.

The latest incident occurred at St. Mulumba by Akachi Road, near First Bank in Owerri, and serves as a stark reminder of the state government’s disregard for human life and the rule of law. This is not an isolated case; the party recalled a previous event at Toronto Junction, MCC/Uratta Road, Owerri, where lives were also lost at the hands of ENTRACO staff. Interim State Publicity Secretary Cajetan Duke issued a statement on Monday, noting that the actions of these government agents have become synonymous with misery, agony, and death in Imo State.

The party finds it disheartening that a commission established to maintain environmental cleanliness and orderliness has turned into a vehicle for extortion, intimidation, and harassment of commercial road users and vulnerable members of society. Residents of Imo State are living in fear, and it is unacceptable that ENTRACO officials have become more notorious than armed bandits and terrorists.

The Action People’s Party demands an immediate halt to these killings and calls on the government to assume responsibility for protecting its citizens and holding the perpetrators accountable. It questions the credibility and competence of ENTRACO’s current leadership, citing an entrenched culture of insensitivity and disregard for human life, and urges Governor Uzodimma to dismiss the commission’s management for gross ineptitude and poor leadership.

The party stands in solidarity with the victims’ families and demands justice, urging all Imolites to condemn these brutal killings and demand accountability from the state administration. A thorough investigation is necessary, and those responsible must be brought to justice. The people of Imo State deserve better than to live in fear of being killed by those sworn to protect them, and the incident highlights the urgent need for the state government to address ENTRACO’s activities and ensure the safety and well‑being of its citizens.
