Two brothers, Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, have been formally charged in connection with the high-profile killings of South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and businessman Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane in Durban. The extradition of the brothers from Eswatini to South Africa marks a significant development in the case, which has been the subject of intense media attention and public interest.
The Ndimande brothers face a total of 20 charges, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and firearms offenses. These charges also relate to other violent crimes, such as the murder of a taxi boss in Amanzimtoti, near Durban. The extradition process was facilitated by Interpol officials from both South Africa and Eswatini, with the handover taking place at King Shaka International Airport on November 11, 2025.
Following their extradition, the brothers were transported to the Durban Central Police Station under heavy security, accompanied by police units and monitored by a police helicopter. They appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on the same day, where it was announced that they will stand trial alongside five other co-accused in the murders of AKA and Tebz. The two victims were shot dead outside a popular Durban restaurant in February 2023.
Additional charges linked to separate cases of murder and attempted murder were also confirmed in court. The police have praised the collaborative efforts between South African and Eswatini authorities, the National Prosecuting Authority, and Interpol for securing the extradition and bringing the suspects to justice. The Ndimande brothers are due to return to court on November 25 for further proceedings.
The successful extradition and charging of the suspects highlight the importance of cross-border cooperation in tackling organized crime, particularly in cases that have a significant impact on the region. The investigation into the murders of AKA and Tebz has been ongoing since February 2023, with six suspects linked to the case having been arrested earlier. The case has drawn widespread attention and concern, with many calling for justice to be served.
