North West APC Youth League disowns Kebbi coalition, backs Bagudu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth League in the North West has distanced itself from a group claiming to be a coalition of APC support groups in Kebbi State. According to the league’s national coordinator, Comrade Aliyu Suleiman, this coalition is not recognized within the party’s structure and has no standing at the ward, local government, state, or national levels.

During a press briefing in Kaduna, Suleiman said the coalition has never participated in party activities or grassroots mobilization, and therefore its existence is not acknowledged by the APC hierarchy. He further alleged that the group is attempting to exploit the name of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, for personal gain.

The North West APC Youth League has reaffirmed its support for Senator Bagudu and urged party members in Kebbi State to remain united behind Governor Nasir Idris. Suleiman emphasized the importance of unity within the party, cautioning against actions that could create division and weaken the APC in Kebbi and the North West.

The press conference was attended by officials of the North West APC Youth League and some political observers. The development highlights the need for cohesion and legitimate representation within the party, particularly in the run‑up to future elections. As one of Nigeria’s major political parties, the APC continues to work toward strengthening its presence in various regions, including the North West. Its youth wing has been instrumental in mobilizing support and promoting the party’s ideals across different states, including Kebbi.

The North West region is a significant stronghold for the APC, and efforts to maintain unity and cohesion are crucial for its continued success. The disavowal of the unrecognized coalition underscores the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability. By distancing itself from unregistered groups, the APC aims to ensure that only legitimate and authorized representatives engage in its activities, thereby preventing potential conflicts and divisions.

As Nigeria’s political landscape evolves, the APC’s attempts to strengthen internal structures and promote unity among its members will be closely watched by political observers and analysts.
