Kwankwaso’s presidency won’t abuse court judgment – Campaign spokesman

The Spokesman of the New Nigerian Peoples Party Presidential Campaign Council, Ladipo Johnson, has disclosed that his principal, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, has no history of violating court judgment.

Johnson made the clarification in a phone chat with one of our correspondents in Abuja.

In recent times, successive governments in the country have been accused of violating the rule of law and arbitrarily abusing court judgements.

But the NNPP campaign spokesman believed his principal is different.

While stating that Democracy is a difficult form of governance, Johnson said only tested public officeholders like Kwankwaso can be trusted to handle power with recourse to rule of law.

He said, “You can always refer to Kwankwaso’s virtue as a democrat. He believed in Democracy and one of its tenets is the rule of law. And if we do not get small things right, the big things will not work.

“By God’s grace, he will be the one who will follow the rule of law. He understands Democracy in the sense that it is not easy. It is a difficult form of government. It cannot always be ‘Your Will be done.’

“Unfortunately, most people who have been in government at the presidential level are not people who believe that the rule of law should hold sway. They are people who believe that the position of president is a very powerful one and they are only too willing to use it.

“When it comes to making decisions, they may not remember one of the principles of Democracy. So I am positive that Rabiu Kwankwaso will follow and obey the rule of law if elected as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
