Vine is back, rebooted as diVine, funded by Twitter's Jack Dorsey

A new platform called diVine has been launched, reviving the concept of six‑second videos that was popularized by Vine, a social‑media app discontinued in 2016. diVine is backed by And Other Stuff, a nonprofit collective founded by Jack Dorsey, who also co‑founded Twitter—the platform that originally acquired and shut down Vine.

The new service features branding similar to Vine and will include a library of more than 100,000 archived Vine videos. According to diVine’s website, the platform aims to provide a space for users to share “raw, unfiltered creativity” in six‑second loops, using decentralized technology that is “owned by no one, controlled by everyone.” This approach contrasts with other social‑media platforms that rely heavily on algorithms to curate content.

diVine also promises to prevent the posting of AI‑generated content, a feature that sets it apart in an era where such material is becoming increasingly prevalent. The launch arrives as short‑form video content experiences a resurgence in popularity, thanks in part to the success of other platforms.
