PDP holds NEC meeting, suspends discussion on national secretary position — Daily Nigerian

Delegates from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have gathered at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan to prepare for the party’s national convention, which is scheduled to run from Saturday evening through Sunday. Representatives from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are in attendance, and many have arrived dressed in the party’s signature green‑white‑red colors, taking their assigned seats within the venue.

Although the accreditation process has not yet begun, the atmosphere is lively. Posters and billboards bearing party messages are displayed throughout the stadium, and ambulances are positioned at strategic points to handle any emergencies. Security is provided by the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Amotekun, the Western Nigeria Security Network, both inside and outside the stadium to protect attendees and their property. Food vendors and traders are also on site, anticipating brisk sales during the convention.

The national convention is a significant event for the PDP as it seeks to strengthen its structure and prepare for future elections. The party has been working to rebuild its base and regain support ahead of the next electoral cycle, and the outcomes of the convention are expected to influence the party’s leadership and direction. Delegates will engage in discussions, vote on key issues, and possibly elect new leaders.

Political analysts and observers are closely watching the PDP’s national convention, eager to see how the party will navigate its internal dynamics and position itself for success in upcoming elections. With accreditation set to begin soon, the stage is set for a busy and potentially pivotal weekend for the PDP.
