The Nigerian Army has intensified efforts to rescue students abducted from a school in Kebbi State, following a directive from the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu. The abduction occurred on Monday when suspected bandits took 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, killing the vice principal in the process.
During an operational tour to the state, Lt.-Gen. Shaibu instructed troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to conduct intelligence-driven operations and maintain a relentless pursuit of the abductors. He emphasized the importance of finding the abducted children, stating that “success is not optional.” The COAS also engaged with local vigilance groups and hunters, recognizing their critical role in the operation and urging them to collaborate with troops to locate and neutralize criminal elements.
The military’s commitment to rescuing the students unharmed was reaffirmed by Lt.-Gen. Shaibu during a condolence visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko and the Principal of the affected school. He encouraged troops to remain resilient and professional, acting within the rules of engagement while working to restore peace to Kebbi State and surrounding areas.
